When is a cat, not a cat?

n50onhj4slre4atyokonBy now you have probably read the earth-shattering, news that Hello Kitty, the world’s most famous feline isn’t actually a cat! If, like me, you’re a huge fan of Japan’s unofficial mascot, you are probably just as confused as I am. So the question arises, WHEN IS A CAT NOT A CAT?! Well, when it comes to Hello Kitty apparently…

Sanrio the company behind the Japanese character, has revealed she’s actually a British girl who lives just outside London…that was well, pretty obvious. Right?

According to the Sanrio website, Hello Kitty’s background is as follows:

Hello Kitty is a cheerful and happy little girl with a heart of gold. She lives in London with her mama (Mary White), papa (George White), and her twin sister Mimmy. Hello Kitty loves to bake and she can make really delicious cookies. She learned her baking talents from her mama, who makes scrumptious apple pies that are enjoyed by the whole family.

So what exactly is she? Do you agree that she is a young girl living in London? Or will she forever more be cat?

At least we can rest assured, that Snoopy is in fact a dog…
